Person struck, killed by train in Surrey Thursday morning

One person was killed by a train in Surrey early Thursday morning.

Around 5 a.m. July 4, Surrey Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a person who had been struck and killed by a train along the Canadian Pacific (CP) Rail tracks near the 184 Street and 52 Avenue crossing, RCMP confirmed in an email Thursday.

Several police vehicles were still at the scene more than an hour later, visible from the north side of the stopped train.

CP Police and the BC Coroner attended the scene and took conduct of the investigation into the circumstances of the fatality.

RCMP directed any further inquiries to CP Police.
